History Alive! Pioneer Style

Get a "taste" of pioneer life by immersing into the 1890s History Alive! pioneer packinghouse. This field experience includes role play of actual Boca Raton pioneers and hands-on pioneer activities. The "pioneers" will later be transported into the future when they exit the packinghouse to explore the Boca Raton timeline through the 20th century.

Grades: 3rd or 4th

HISTORY ON THE MOVE

We often notice technology "moves" forward at a fast pace. However, do we stop to take notice what the effects have been on Boca Raton and Florida? Students will "move" through time using the History Alive! timeline and other exhibits to gather information on the coming of the railroad, the automobile, radar, and the PC and discuss their effects.

Grade: 4th

World War II: The Home Front Experience

What was the impact of World War II on the local residents? How was life on the home front during those years of war?
Students will examine the World War II History Alive! exhibit and analyze primary and secondary sources obtained from local residents and the Boca Raton Army Air Field. This field experience allows students to gain an historical perspective of those who lived and served here while they endured the war on the home front.
